Well, so much for superstition! Norm and I got married on a very, very rainy day (much like this weekend, in fact). If I remember right, it was a very rainy August that year! We had to use umbrellas (which is not a popular or oft used item in South Dakota) to get to and from the church. No matter how wet it was, no matter the superstition, it didn’t seem to make much difference.
That wet night was 41 years ago tonight, which is another rainy night! Norm and I have been through many different seasons of life in our 41 years but, through it all, thick and thin, good and bad, Norm has stuck with me.
I am fortunate that he is a Peterson. The Peterson men have a reputation for stick-to-it-ivness. They don’t give up easily. And Norm is still here, after all that I have put him through. I will be eternally grateful for that quality that he has. He was my first true love and will be my last true love.
Our love is steady, quiet and solid. He holds me up in my sad times and he keeps me straight in my crazy times.
Thank you, Norm, for 41 years!!! May there be many more to follow.
And may all of you be blessed with the solid love of a very, very good man!
